The design for SANEH Hairwellness commenced with the challenge of transforming a conventional, rectangular ground-floor unit in Silom, Bangkok, into a bespoke sanctuary for the hair-wellness experience. Our objective was to explore how thoughtful design could elevate the client journey, creating an environment that was both highly functional and reflective of the brand's forward-thinking vision.
The spatial organization is guided by a carefully orchestrated progression from public to private, dividing the floor plan into four distinct zones: reception, hair-wellness, shampoo, and staff areas.
Upon entry, a sweeping curved partition greets visitors. This architectural element serves a dual purpose: it shields the main treatment areas from external view, fostering an immediate sense of privacy, while its fluid form gently guides clients inward. Integrated within this curve are a product display and bench seating, seamlessly blending function into the initial welcoming gesture.
Beyond this threshold lies the primary hair-wellness area. This space is anchored by a custom-designed, triangular hairdressing station. The geometry of this central feature is thoughtfully configured so that each client is afforded personal space and privacy, even within an open setting. Above, a hanging stretched-fabric ceiling light casts a diffuse glow, defining the area and enhancing the modern aesthetic.
Adjacent to this, a deliberate shift in the material palette marks a transition in the client's sensory journey. We introduced darker materials to evoke a sense of calm, which are then juxtaposed with the reflectivity of stainless steel and the vibrancy of a yellow floor. This interplay of light and texture is intended to create a unique and memorable moment.
The final destination is the shampoo area, conceived as the most private and tranquil space. Set on a slightly elevated platform and enclosed by low partitions, it feels distinct and secluded. Guided by the need for quietude, the design here relies on a darker material palette and subdued, indirect lighting to cultivate a profoundly serene atmosphere for the ultimate relaxation.
